A note from the GM

Mike McCann GMWell it’s officially summer and the A/C’s are on overtime! With this being my first summer in Savannah, I am learning that you can start sweating while drinking coffee on your front porch at 5:30 am in the morning and still be sweating on that same porch at 9:00 pm in the evening while catching up on Facebook. I have learned that gnats may be tiny in size but are giants in annoyance. People in the South don’t just wave and walk by. They love to stop and spend some time getting to know their neighbors. There are way too many great places to eat to go to the same place twice. If you live on the other side of a bridge, you’re even allowed to say you live on an island. Savannah is the largest “Small” city I have ever called my home. If you know 5 people you are guaranteed one of them knows the other. And maybe most surprising, I’ve discovered that boiled peanuts are good!

I have heard the term “Southern Hospitality” all my life. But I guess I just assumed it was like anywhere else. I figured that our busy schedules today had sort of made that a thing of the past. Boy was I wrong. It amazes me how many people take that statement to heart and live it daily. So many emails and texts that always start off with exchange of pleasantries or those that would not dare walk by you without taking the time to say, “Hi.”. Probably the one I notice the most is the time people take to send back an email to just say “OK”, “Thanks”, “No Problem”, “You’re welcome” etc. to let you know they read and acknowledged your correspondence.

One of my main goals at Vaden Nissan is that we become known as a place you go to buy a vehicle from a friend. A place that the experience matches the area’s desire to show Southern Hospitality and assurance that we treat every customer like we would an honored guest in our home. We wouldn’t expect them to get their own drink, locate the bathroom or other things if they were visiting. No, we’d make sure they felt right at home and comfortable. At Vaden Nissan I expect my staff to offer you a drink, make sure you are comfortable while discussing business and when needed, walk you towards and point out the facilities. I hope when you leave here it will be an experience that you share with others.

Now I am also not naïve enough to think we will never fall a little short and miss the mark. We are human. And when those times happen, I hope you will take the time to reach out to me personally and share your experience. That is the absolute best way for me to keep a pulse on my store and train my team to be better. We never stop learning.

Car buying can be a very trying ordeal. There are many moving pieces to a car deal. Selecting the right dealership, trusting the salesman, picking out the right fit for our next vehicle, test driving the car, negotiating the deal, choosing the best finance option and so on and so on. At Vaden Nissan we want to help you buy a car the way YOU want to buy a car. If you want to do most of the shopping ahead of time, we supply a ton of information about models and programs on our website. If you want to know what your trade is worth, we provide you a place to do that online as well as apply for credit, build your model the way you want it and even go as far as to select a vehicle and schedule a test drive. When you do decide to come in, we want to be respectful of your time. We will ask you where you are in the process, so we don’t waste your time doing anything twice.

I hope some of this sales model will take the South’s Southern Hospitality and insert it into one the areas that most people are the most uncomfortable, Car Buying. Give me a call today to visit about any of our processes or to share your experience, good or bad. Or stop by and see me in person. I will be the one sweating profusely and slapping at the gnats on the front porch while eating boiled peanuts!!

Hope to see you soon!!!
